Grad Dip Phys MCSP SRP Dip MDT AACP
A versatile and dedicated healthcare professional with many years’ experience in the physiotherapy profession, with specialist clinical skills in the management of spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal conditions and general orthopaedic management.
In his early years, Lawrence gained a diploma in sports business studies and encountered all types of athletes with sporting injuries giving him an understanding of the frustration these injuries can create and the importance of developing safe, effective and relevant exercise and training programmes. This was the precursor for him to begin training in physiotherapy and since graduating from Bristol School of Physiotherapy in 1987, Lawrence has gone on to gain postgraduate qualifications with a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine, an advanced acupuncture diploma and, in 2004, achieved the prestigious clinical master’s qualification of Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute International.
Lawrence has worked within both the NHS and private practice in Worcestershire. His NHS career lead to him working as full time physiotherapy team leader for the Malvern Hills area for over 21 years. During this time he created and developed both mainstream and specialist orthopaedic physiotherapy services for the local population in Worcestershire and surrounding areas. Much of his specialist work has been involved in managing patients with complex spinal conditions that required appropriate diagnosis and investigations including X-Ray, MRI and Ultrasound scanning to help diagnose and manage painful limiting conditions.
Lawrence’s specialist interests are in managing musculoskeletal problems and pain management. He has a strong belief that patients’ path to better health lies in not just receiving passive therapies but also being taught robust self-management strategies to help them cope with chronic pain and disability. Lawrence uses his evidence based, practice knowledge and skills to offer an holistic approach to help support patients in their rehabilitation. A strong communicator and motivator of people, Lawrence is fit and energetic with a desire to enable patient’s independence and improved health. He is a keen cyclist, walker and local table tennis league player.
